![]() I’m not usually so patient with apps, but Mimestream is that good. Mimestream has seen steady improvements and expansion of its core features over the two years or so it’s been in beta, and the company has a public roadmap that gives me some comfort that most of what I’d like to see added to the app is planned or at least under consideration. I’m still left wishing for an iOS app, Shortcuts support, deep linking, and support for my iCloud email account, but I’ve chosen to be patient. If you’ve found the perfect email solution for yourself, that’s fantastic, but I’ve resigned myself to the fact that looking for the perfect email app is futile – at least so far.ĭespite my wishes for Mimestream, it is heads and shoulders better than any Mac email client I’ve ever used. There are almost as many ways to use email or a task manager as there are people using them. The perfect email client is the only thing more difficult to find than the perfect task manager. Actions allowing users to interact with attachments, save PDFs of message threads, and deep link to Mimestream or Gmail on the web would be a great start, along with actions corresponding to those in the app’s filtering system. I’d also like the app to adopt Shortcuts support, so it can be used more gracefully with other apps and workflows. Mimestream already supports exporting as PDF, which would make a great Shortcuts action.Īs useful as Mimestream’s filtering is, though, the system only works within the four corners of the app. That’s handy, but I’d prefer a deep link directly into Mimestream because the Gmail URL opens Gmail in my browser instead. ![]() I particularly appreciate the ability to copy the Gmail URL for messages, which I often drop into tasks in Things when I think a task will require referring back to a message I received. The heading of messages includes a star and reply button, along with a three-dot ‘More’ button with other options. Because Mimestream uses Google’s Gmail APIs, search is fast and reliable, in my experience. The message pane includes a customizable toolbar with options for the most common actions you can take on messages, plus a search field for searching your messages. Swipe left or right on an item in the message list, and it will reveal an action you’ve assigned in the app’s Settings. Mimestream supports customizable swipe gestures too. The middle column of Mimestream is the message list, which can be viewed in a compact or expanded format. Plus, I handle most of my email on the Mac anyway, so switching to Apple Mail on my iPhone or iPad isn’t as difficult for me as it might be for others.įilters allow me to do things like extract new betas from the sea of messages about existing betas. However, every rule has an exception, and Mimestream is one of those. That’s one of the reasons I prefer Logic Pro for iPad over Ferrite, for instance. As a rule, I don’t like using different apps on different platforms to do the same thing. The bigger deal is that Mimestream isn’t on iOS or iPadOS. As a result, I’ve continued to use Apple Mail for my iCloud email address, which isn’t a big deal because it’s not an account I use for many things anyway. However, because I handle most of my email on the Mac and most of what I’d like to see Mimestream incorporate is planned or under consideration for future updates, it’s become how I manage most of my email.Īs I mentioned at the outset, Mimestream is Gmail and Mac only. The app doesn’t have everything I want from an email client. What drew me back to Mimestream was the app’s native design, tight integration with Gmail, and open roadmap. ![]() I’ve been using Mimestream on and off for over a year, returning to it in late January after briefly trying Missive. All but my iCloud email are connected to Gmail, which makes me a pretty strong candidate for Mimestream, which launched this week after a couple years in beta. Two are work-related, and two are personal. If you spend a lot of time on other devices or have non-Gmail accounts, the call is tougher, but that’s exactly my situation, and I think Mimestream is still the best Mac email choice for most people. It offers the core Gmail experience wrapped in a thoughtfully designed native Mac app. ![]() If you primarily use Gmail and work on a Mac, you should try Mimestream now. I’m going to straight-up spoil this review for you at the top. ![]() But there's also a hidden folder, Documents\.stanza\library which contains ten numbered subfolders. epub files with sensible names, but nowhere near all my books. So, Inside the stanza app folder, we have Documents, which contains a few. ![]() Using google, I found someone talking about how Stanza likes to rename your books to a number without a file extension. (User\applications and then go through the GUIDs - ie, long random letter-number folder names - until you find the one with a subfolder named Stanza.app). Using 's Phone Disk I was able to find the stanza app directory on the Ipad. OK, so we have to do this the old fashioned way. The edited version of the app posted by the Risky Thinking blogger doesn't work for me either, and I don't know why.ģ. The stanzabookrestore.jar app does not work for me - same problem reported by the Risky Thinking Blogger - it throws an error that it can't find the backup directory on my XP machine, and no, I don't have a vista or 7 machine to try it on.Ģ. It does NOT work on the phone, only on the backup. If you dont have an itunes backup, this will not help at all. Doubleclick and it ought to extract your Stanza books from your itunes backup. jar file and should work in all operating systems. I'll upload it somewhere and come back with the link in a minute. If I can find my copy (and I think I deleted it) I'll do that, myself. Perhaps someone who has used it could upload it for everyone to a file sharing service. Lexcycle no longer exists, nor does the tool. This article gives detailed instructions, and the link to the Application: All the books will be copied to your computer." Point it at your backup folder (on the Mac you’ll find it in Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup), choose a destination and hit “Recover Books”. "Download the app, called “Stanza Book Restore Tool”, from Lexcycle, the developers of Stanza. There is an application that will retrieve all your Stanza ebooks from your Itunes backup of your iPad. I thought I would post a reply because Stanza has been so crippled by Amazon. If I'd had a mix of file types, I guess I would have repeated step 6 for each possible file type until I got Calibre to recognize and load all the books. Calibre kindly creates copies of everything with sensible file names in its library.įortunately I only had epubs loaded into Stanza. epub, and drag-dropped them into Calibre. I mass renamed all the number-no extension files to. There were exactly as many of these as I had books loaded into the Ipad, so I knew I was on the right track.Ħ. I did a search on the copy of the documents folder, for files named *.* (ie, all files), then sorted the search results by file type - this let me easily select out all the files without extensions and copy them to a new folder. My google searching told me that these files were my books, renamed this way for my inconvenience.ĥ. Stanza subfolder contained 10 numbered subfolders, which contained a lot of files with just numbers for names and no extension. epub files, but not anywhere near all of them. Inside the stanza app folder, I copied the contents of the Documents folder, and its hidden. App folders have cryptic and random names, but usually there's a file or folder inside them that is clearly named so you know what it is - the Stanza folder has a subfolder called Stanza, so that was easy.ģ. I found the stanza app folder in User\applications. has several, including some that are free.Ģ. I installed a program that lets me bypass Itunes and look at the files loaded on the Ipad directly. Lexcycle's stanza backup java app, which has become difficult to find, did not work for me (the best place to get it appears to be the internet archive's wayback machine).ġ. I made a backup of the data on the Ipad using Itunes but there doesn't seem to be a way to extract the data from the backup - I saw a reference to a program put out by the Stanza software developers to extract your books from an Itunes backup, but could not find a live link to it. However, when I go into Itunes to attempt to back up my library by using the "file sharing" panel on Itunes to save them to my computer, Itunes can only see about 220 epubs loaded into stanza.Ī) Is there something wrong, or is this just more evidence that Itunes is crap?ī) Is there any way to backup ALL the books I have loaded into stanza without using Itunes? I have about 500 epubs (and more every week) loaded on Stanza on my Ipad 2. There was no deal at the end in terms of capital. The mother-son duo made a prompt and wise decision and chose to leave the financial incentive at the table for a more meaningful mentorship experience with Daymond. If Moziah and Tramica accepted Kevin’s deal, they would have Kevin as a mentor, not Daymond. Kevin offered Mo’s Bows a sum of $50,000 in exchange for $3 on each bow tie, whereas Daymond offered his mentorship with no financial investment. Kevin and Daymond were the remaining investors. ![]() Mark was pleased with the product and advised Moziah to raise the price of his product if the demand increased, but he was out too, as the business wasn’t in his niche. Moziah had distributed his bow ties among the sharks to assess the quality of his hand-stitched bow tie, which also pleased the sharks. ![]() Sharks were quite impressed with the profits Moziah, a twelve-year-old kid, had generated with his brand in just a year. Mo’s Bows sold online and to retailers around the South, generating $55K in sales. The money was needed for hiring a manufacturer as the demand for bow ties from Mo’s Bows increased. Moziah had come to the Shark Tank with his mother, Tramica, to seek an investment of $50,000 for equity of 20%. He initially upcycled his grandmother’s old clothes, but soon people started getting attracted to the unique designs, and that’s where the brand Mo’s Bows was born. His grandmother had taught him how to sew, a skill he used to hand-sew his first bow tie. However, since Moziah couldn’t find any bow tie around town to fit his 12-year-old soul, he decided to create some of his own. He believes anyone can look good and feel good in a bow tie, which shouldn’t be restricted as a dress code for formal occasions. Moziah, a twelve-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, had always been fond of dressing up well, and bow ties were a significant part of his attire. One of those people is Moziah Bridges, founder of Mo’s Bows, who appeared on Shark Tank’s Season 5. However, not everybody prefers to wear sweatpants daily some still like to dress up elegantly each day. The new trends are replacing the old fashion statements that were once considered classy.
